What Is AMZNMktplace or AMZ* on My Bank Statement?
They're all Amazon, but for different purchases. AMZNMktplace is an order from a third-party seller on Amazon, Amazon Digital covers Kindle books, Prime Video and apps, and a standalone Amazon Prime charge is the membership fee.

Why one order becomes several charges
This is the usual reason an Amazon statement looks confusing. Amazon charges you as items ship, not when you place the order. A basket containing three items from different sellers or warehouses can appear as three separate charges on different days, none of which matches your order total.
How to match a charge to an order
Open Your Orders in your Amazon account and switch the filter to the right time period. Each order shows the payment taken and when. For digital items, check Your Account → Digital Content and Devices.
Also worth checking: Prime renews annually or monthly and is easy to forget, and Amazon Music, Kindle Unlimited and Audible all bill separately from your shopping.
What if you don't recognise it?
Don't panic, but don't ignore it either. Work through this order:
- Check who else uses the card — a partner, or a child on a family account, is the most common explanation.
- Look for a matching subscription or order in the relevant app or account.
- Search the exact descriptor as it appears, including any * or reference number.
- Still unexplained? Contact your bank straight away. Report it as an unrecognised transaction — under UK rules you're generally protected against unauthorised payments, and your bank can freeze the card and investigate.
Never phone a number that appears in the transaction itself, and never share a one-time passcode with anyone who calls you — including someone claiming to be your bank.
