What Is Deliveroo on My Bank Statement? (Including Deliveroo Plus)

A charge showing as DELIVEROO, DELIVEROO PLC or DELIVEROO.CO.UK on your bank statement is from the food delivery app, and if you do not remember it, one of four explanations almost always fits:

  1. A weekend order you forgot. Deliveroo charges sometimes settle a day or two after the food arrived, so a Sunday order can appear mid-week with the later date on it.
  2. Deliveroo Plus renewing. The subscription (free delivery for a monthly fee) is the classic "small mystery charge": people take a free trial for one order and forget it converts to a paid month.
  3. Someone else on your card. A partner or child with your card saved in their own Deliveroo account produces charges you never see coming.
  4. A pending amount changing. Deliveroo authorises the basket total first; tips added after delivery or substitutions can make the settled amount differ from the one in the app.

The subscription is the usual culprit

A recurring Deliveroo charge of a few pounds a month is Deliveroo Plus. Check inside the app under Account, then Subscription: if Plus is active, the renewal date and price are shown there, and cancelling takes effect from the next billing date. A Plus fee is also charged by Deliveroo itself, so it appears even in months you ordered nothing, which is exactly why it goes unrecognised.

Checking what the charge was

Open the Deliveroo app, then Account and Order history: every order shows its final charged amount. Match by amount rather than by date, because the statement date is the settlement date, often one or two days after the order. If the amount differs slightly from the order total, look for a rider tip added at the door or a substituted item.

If you have no Deliveroo account at all, the charge came from someone else's account with your card attached, which is either family or fraud.

If it genuinely is not yours

  • Ask the household first. Saved cards in someone else's app are the most common answer, and a bank fraud claim against a family member's takeaway gets messy.
  • Freeze the card in your banking app while you work it out.
  • Dispute it with your bank, not with Deliveroo: for a debit card that is a chargeback claim, and your bank handles it from there. Our guide to unfamiliar charges on your statement covers the process, and if card details have leaked, what someone can do with your card details covers the wider risk.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there a Deliveroo charge when I didn't order anything this month?

Almost certainly Deliveroo Plus, the delivery subscription, renewing. It bills monthly whether or not you order. Check Account, then Subscription in the app, and cancel there if you do not want it.

Why is the Deliveroo charge more than my order total?

A tip added after delivery, a substituted item, or a small order fee settling together. The order history in the app shows the final amount charged.

How do I cancel Deliveroo Plus?

In the app: Account, Subscription, Cancel. It stays active until the end of the paid period. If you cannot access the account it is billed to, your bank can block future recurring payments to Deliveroo from your card.
